Minnesota State Grant Program

Minnesota State Grants helps students from low and moderate income backgrounds afford educational expenses at Minnesota colleges and universities. The application is free of charge, and students can apply by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must have graduated from a secondary school or its equivalent, or are at least 17 years of age
  • Will be enrolled as undergraduates for at least 3 credit hours at an eligible Minnesota school

American Legion Auxiliary Minnesota Legionnaire Insurance Trust Scholarships

This scholarship is sponsored by the American Legion, Department of Minnesota. Its purpose is to provide financial assistance to students who are interested in furthering their education with any Minnesota university, college, vocational school or other accredited institution of higher learning. Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a legal resident of the state of Minnesota
  • Must be a veteran, a child of a veteran or a grandchild of a veteran
  • Must meet the academic standards of the school he or she wishes to attend
  • Must have a good record of citizenship
  • Must have the desire to pursue an education beyond high school

The scholarship amount awarded is $500, and the full amount will be sent to the institution of the student’s choice before the fall quarter or semester. For more information, click here.

American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Minnesota Memorial Scholarships

This scholarship is sponsored by the American Legion, Department of Minnesota. Its purpose is to provide financial assistance to students who are interested in furthering their education with any Minnesota university, college, vocational school or other accredited institution of higher learning. All applicants must stem from a Minnesota American Legion Post. To be eligible for this award, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be the child, grandchild, adopted child or stepchild of an American Legion or American Legion Auxiliary member
  • Must be a high school graduate
  • Must be a student that shows qualities or initiative and desire
  • Must be a student that is loyal to his or her country
  • Must establish financial need

MGMA Midwest Section Scholarships

This scholarship supports and promotes health care leaders’ personal and professional growth toward the advancement of the health care profession. It supports individuals who demonstrate potential for contributing to the medical practice management industry. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Minnesota Child Care Grant

The Minnesota Post-Secondary Child Care Grant Program helps low income students who have young children pay for child care while the student completes classes. To be eligible, all applicants must be Minnesota residents who have a child age 12 or younger (or 14 years or younger if the child is disabled) and whose family size and income qualify for the program. Page Education Foundation Grants

The mission of the Page Education Foundation is to increase participation of Minnesota’s young people of color in post-secondary education. Applicants must be Minnesota students of color, demonstrate a financial need, have a positive attitude toward education and community service and attend a post-secondary institution within the state of Minnesota. Grants range in amount from $1,000 and $2,500. If you are awarded a grant, you must reapply each year to receive subsequent grants. Dr. Paul Edwards specializes in providing expert care of painful arthritis of the hip and knee. He performs hip and knee replacement surgery using the latest techniques, including revision total joint replacement surgery for painful or failed joint replacements.

He graduated with a biology degree from the University of Arkansas. After spending several years performing basic science research at the Reynolds Center on Aging to complete his master’s degree in physiology, he obtained his medical degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency training at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Edwards completed a Hip and Knee Joint Replacement Fellowship at OrthoCarolina Hip & Knee Institute in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Throughout his medical education, Paul has received numerous awards, grants and accolades. He has authored or co-authored several peer-reviewed manuscripts and presented numerous research projects at national meetings. He is a member of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

Dr. Edwards continues to actively participate in research studies to further improve the design and function of total joint replacement. He lectures nationally and internationally on hip and knee replacement. He also is actively involved in teaching other surgeons across the country some of the newest techniques in hip and knee replacement.
